Agfa is taking image management to the next level of performance with its release of the latest Impax ES (enterprise suite) at the RSNA meeting, according to company executives. Impax Web1000 5.0 ES features a Data Currency capability that improves communications by continually synchronizing information from the Impax Server to the Web1000. This translates into faster log-ins and image display speeds, as well as greater memory. Conference mode allows authorized users to work interactively.
The company is also launching at the RSNA meeting an advanced RIS solution designed specifically for imaging centers in the U.S. and Canada. The new IMPAX RIS, integrated with the company's PACS, is tailored to meet the specific workflow, integration, and implementation needs of these centers, combining RIS, PACS, speech recognition, document management, billing, and practice analysis workflow into a single solution with Web access to reports and images.
The company exhibited its Impax system integrated with Medicsight's computer-assisted reading (CAR) software. This provides guidance in reading digital images, similar to CAD. Days before the meeting, Agfa signed a letter of intent with the U.K.-based company to integrate the software with its own platform and to distribute the package, which detects and measures colon polyps, lung lesions, and coronary artery calcifications.
TalkStation 3.0, also released, features advanced workflow and intuitive user interfaces. A new mammography diagnostic workstation, the Impax MA3000, retrieves, displays, archives, and distributes digital mammograms, while handling images from other digital modalities.
The Orthopedics Spine Module, shown as a work-in-progress, is being designed to help surgeons plan spinal procedures. The package calculates scoliosis and vertebral rotation and estimates skeletal maturity, comparing patient values with normal ones.
