Siemens Medical Solutions is exhibiting its Sienet Cosmos at this year's RSNA meeting as a commercially available integrated radiology IT suite. The company is also showing enhancements to its Novius RIS.
The Sienet Cosmos RIS/PACS, exhibited as a work-in-progress at last year's meeting, features the common syngo user interface and integration with the company's Soarian IT system, allowing real-time access to electronic patient records. The RIS/PACS can be scaled across hospital enterprises or down to individual hospitals and imaging centers. It can serve as a building block for an electronic health record system, according to the company.
Sienet Cosmos allows users to view exams and reports from any location in the network with a standard Internet browser. The fully integrated RIS component guides workflow from exam planning to image distribution and provides documentation for billing out medical services.
Sienet Cosmos includes a fast transmission protocol called iMaxcess, which accelerates image and data transfer. Development of the protocol was driven by the need to handle large image data sets, such as those being generated by increasingly powerful multislice CTs, according to the company.
The Novius RIS boasts several new features:
- paperless workflow, including the ability to scan, manage, and distribute documents
- predefined clinical alerts to notify users when clinical conditions have been met
- clinical workflow improvements, such as flexible work lists and extensive teaching folder functionality
