Carestream Health unveils CR, DR offerings

Greg Freiherr
November 29, 2007

Two new computed radiography systems and a digital radiography unit debut this week at the Caresteam Health booth at the RSNA meeting. The CRs, dubbed the Classic and Elite, are accompanied by IT products already introduced:

  • an upgraded RIS/PACS with dynamic streaming, 3D, and image fusion;

  • a new standardized radiology information system for smaller facilities with limited budgets; and

  • a digital dashboard.

The Classic and Elite floor-standing modular CR systems are substantially smaller than other DirectView single-cassette systems from Carestream. Incorporating the latest generation of CR software from Carestream Health, they can be configured to support mammography exams in markets outside the U.S. and Canada, where regulators have approved them for this use.

The compact DR offers patient- positioning enhancements. They include a support bar for lateral chest exams, autocollimator features that control field size and filter, and a brighter, easier-to-control panel. Options supporting preprogrammed autopositioning and remote control for collimator settings are also included. This system replaces the DR 3000 and can be configured with a multifunctional, height-adjustable exam table and four-way floating top. An onboard 17 x 17-inch digital detector delivers 143-micron pixels.
