Journal series offers radiologists an MI primer

Academic Radiology offers remedial help to radiologists whose knowledge of molecular biology is out of date or faded from memory. This primer on molecular biology for imagers sticks to information essential to understanding the subject. Consider it must reading for radiologists on the learning curve. Joseph T Azok, Dr. Mark Bednarski, S. Narasimhan Danthi, Ph.D., Dr. King C.P. Li, Sunil D. Pandit, Ph.D, and Kien Vuu prepared the series. Seven installments appeared irregularly in the journal between November 2003 and September 2004. They can be read online at www.academicradiology.org. The following is a list of installments:

I. DNA, how does it work? (November 2003)

II. Transcription and gene expression (March 2004)

III. Proteins: structure and function (April 2004)

IV. Concepts and basic methods in molecular biology (June 2004)

V. A global approach to the study of genes (July 2004)

VI. Proteomics: the large-scale study of proteins (August 2004)

VII. Molecular imaging probes (September 2004)
