R.L. Kennedy, assistant director of radiology informatics at Kaiser Permanente in Sacramento, CA, offered a DR implementation plan that combines DR with enterprise image distribution justification and strategy.
This tactic allows the extensive costs associated with DR to be carried by the enterprise, rather than by the radiology department alone. Moreover, it can provide relief from the pressure that increased access to imaging places on radiology departments.
Nearly three fourths of image volume in a typical radiology department is generated by projection radiography.
