Brigham and Women's Hospital, which has a total of 1000 beds and boasts of being the most highly wired hospital in the nation, spends $150 million per year and employs 900 people in information systems. The hospital is set to embark on a new informatics initiative aimed at making the entire facility filmless, paperless, and errorless. Industry partners in the effort include GE, EMC, and Medicalis.
