Omnicell Sponsors HIMSS Nursing Informatics Survey

ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Results of an Omnicell, Inc. -sponsored national nursing informatics survey will be unveiled at 5:30 p.m. ET February 23 at the 2004 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition. Survey findings will be posted at http://www.himss.org/asp/industry_research.asp.

More than 500 nurses across the country responded to the HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) survey, which examines the increasing involvement of nurses in healthcare information technology. Omnicell Government Affairs Manager Laurene West, R.N., a nursing informaticist with expertise in pharmaceutical and regulatory compliance, assisted in developing the survey.

"Omnicell is committed to design systems for nurses by nurses," said West. "We feel the survey results will benefit the healthcare industry in creating improved training programs for nurse informaticists."

As the largest and only dedicated global healthcare information and management systems association, HIMSS serves more than 14,000 individual members in the United States and internationally, 42 state and regional chapters, and more than 150 corporate members representing top supplier and consultant companies.

The survey examines clinical background, training, career choices, job responsibilities, barriers to success and continuing education of nurse informaticists.
