Sprint Selects PatientKeeper Mobile Software Platform for Healthcare Market

June 14, 2004

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint and PatientKeeper(R) announced today a formal arrangement to offer a comprehensive mobility solution covering a broad portfolio of administrative and clinical applications, including PatientKeeper Clinical Results(TM), PatientKeeper Charge Capture(TM), PatientKeeper Mobile Dictation(TM), PatientKeeper ePrescription(TM) and more. The open standards of the PatientKeeper Platform(TM) and the PatientKeeper Software Development Kits(TM) (SDKs) pave the way for third-party developers to create custom applications to meet specific client needs.

Under the agreement, PatientKeeper's broad portfolio of applications will be available on select Sprint PCS Smart Devices and represents a core part of the healthcare mobility solutions strategy Sprint announced with palmOne Inc. in February. As part of the Sprint Business Solutions(SM) Program, Trio Teknologies, a distributor of wireless voice and data services, will serve as a point of contact for PatientKeeper customers needing service activation and device-fulfillment services.

"Our selection of the PatientKeeper Platform is another example of Sprint's commitment to offering healthcare providers solutions for enhancing patient care and streamlining business operations," said Jennifer Johnson, director of healthcare marketing, Sprint Business Solutions. "PatientKeeper has a long track record of success across the healthcare continuum. Sprint will continue to work with key partners, including PatientKeeper and palmOne, to address the multiple challenges faced by the healthcare industry."

The PatientKeeper Platform offers physicians options for streamlined workflow and access to complete patient data on demand. Clinicians rely on PatientKeeper Clinical Results for immediate access to lab results, medication profiles, microbiology and radiology reports, allergy profiles, and clinical notes such as consultation and daily progress. PatientKeeper Charge Capture automates the billing process providing a simpler and more accurate way to capture professional service charges at the point of care. Clinicians use PatientKeeper Mobile Dictation to record patient notes on mobile devices and send the voice files directly to transcription services. PatientKeeper ePrescription (Powered by DrFirst(TM)) gives clinicians the ability to write prescriptions, check for allergies and drug interactions, and forward the prescriptions to a pharmacy.

"PatientKeeper is dedicated to providing solutions that enhance patient care, support the day in the life of a physician, and deliver a return on investment," said Stephen S. Hau, PatientKeeper vice president of marketing and business development. "Our partnership with Sprint extends communication beyond the hospital's walls and allows us to jointly offer new applications to meet the increasingly sophisticated needs of healthcare providers."

Sprint is showcasing new and emerging solutions for the healthcare industry in Las Vegas, Nev., June 14-15 at the 2004 HIMSS Summer Conference, booth number seven. Solutions will showcase how physicians can mobilize various applications on wireless handheld devices in order to access and capture information at the point of care.
