Vital Images revs drop, loss grows
Revenue at Vital Images dropped 19% in the third quarter compared to the year earlier period, but CEO Michael H. Carrel pointed to encouraging signs “in our marketplace.” Seeking to counter a fall in 3Q09 to $14.3 million from $17.7 million, the company recently launched its Vitrea Enterprise Suite, a centralized software product designed for managing volumetric data. Vital Images is setting its sights on the upcoming RSNA conference to promote sales. The company will need those sales, if it is to reverse the downward spiral of its bottom line, which sank to a third quarter net loss of $750,000 compared to a net loss of $243,000 in 3Q08.
