MedQuist ally extends SpeechQ
MedQuist has struck a deal to integrate into its speech recognition product software from Clario Medical Imaging that connects to hospital and radiology information systems and tracks radiology practice operations. The planned combination, scheduled for demonstration in the MedQuist booth at the upcoming RSNA meeting, will provide a single access point to manage workflow and dictation. Advanced data mining techniques used in Clario's zVision allow radiologists to search patient records as they dictate reports. The software draws data from SpeechQ as well as from existing HIS and RIS to build a database customized for the radiology practice, according to MedQuist. Other tools allow real-time monitoring, communications, and quality assurance across the radiology practice.
Research confirms Agfa low-dose approach
Agfa's DX-S computed radiography detector delivers the same image quality as film at less patient dose, according to research conducted in Germany. Agfa HealthCare announced the results of two studies showing that the DX-S system can reduce dose up to 50%, without lowering the diagnostic quality. One, performed at the University Clinical Center of Giessen and Marburg, compared the Agfa radiography system with a 400-speed class screen-film system in a study involving 200 thoracic exposures of children. The second, done at the University in Jena, examined children and adolescents and included exposures from a chest phantom.
Nucletron readies brachy treatment planner for Canada
Canadian regulators have cleared Nucletron's volume-based treatment planning solution, Oncentra Brachy. The company is framing the new product as the world's first fully DICOM-compatible treatment planning system, featuring state-of-the-art optimization algorithms that shorten planning time. Oncentra Brachy allows 3D contouring and margining tools that identify regions of interests on CT or in multimodality imaging environments that use image registration for CT, MR, and PET data.
