Image-processing facilities
The radiology department has three additional nondiagnostic workstations for image processing, for example, maximum intensity projection (MIP) and multiplanar reformatting (MPR).
Comments:
"It is not always necessary to do MPR or 3D reformatting, but in many cases it is very helpful. In my unit we use it for preoperative planning of surgical treatment for metastases, for aortic aneurysms, for spinal diseases, and most commonly for trauma. It can sometimes help provide better localization of bleeding and better localization and depiction of fractures."
