II believe Radiology equipment is well regulated. However, the overuse of radiological imaging which is lawsuit driven can be decreased by radiation safety measures. Although I do not believe governmental intervention is always a good measure, we should have documented radiation exposure levels available in the decision making of when and what to image. Starting July 1, diagnostic radiologists in California will be required to include radiation dose levels in all CT reports. Industry response has been mainly positive, but there are still concerns about how the legislation will be enacted and the effect it will have on daily practice.
