Interventional software captures procedures details

Software now on the market from Lumedx collects data about interventional radiology procedures at the point of care. The software automatically documents Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and patient safety performance metrics. It tracks and monitors case details, numbers of procedures, and billing. Images are integrated into case records.

Ziehm launches C-arm at ECR 2009

A compact and versatile C-arm debuted in the Ziehm Imaging booth during the European Congress of Radiology earlier this month. The system, compatible with many existing OR monitors, is designed for pain management and orthopedic imaging, as well as trauma and spine surgery. Its CCD camera can produce more than 4000 gray scales. An optionally integrated metal correction program automatically detects objects such as screws and plates and modifies generator output to minimize overexposure during fluoroscopy and reduce radiation exposure to patients and staff.

Fischer prepares DR offering

Fischer Medical Technologies plans to release a redesigned digital radiography version of trauma radiography suites released in the 1980s. The company is now providing a computed radiography version of the system, called VersaRad, which will be upgradable to the DR configuration. Two years ago, a newly formulated Fischer Medical Technologies bought selected x-ray assets of the defunct Fischer Imaging, the original maker of Traumex and VersaRad radiography systems. The company recently completed a multi-unit installation of the CR configuration of its VersaRad in the emergency/trauma department at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI.
