Siemens unveils coronary PET/CT software
Siemens Healthcare unveiled this week new cardiac imaging software, dubbed syngo Dynamic PET with Myocardial Blood Flow, for its Biograph PET/CT scanners. The new FDA-cleared product, introduced at the American Society for Nuclear Cardiology Scientific Session in Minneapolis, offers a new method for quantitatively evaluating the extent of ischemia via high-performance PET/CT imaging and advanced applications, according to Siemens. Syngo Dynamic PET may have a significant impact on the diagnosis of patients with advanced coronary artery disease, particularly those with multi-vessel disease, or those who are asymptomatic, the company said. Published clinical literature estimates that between 5% and 10% of coronary artery disease patients have balanced vessel disease, and up to 8% are at-risk but asymptomatic. Siemens’ new product may be most valuable to this high-risk group.
