Philips Medical Systems North America has announced the first major set of organizational changes since Jack Price was promoted to president in March, replacing Michael Moakley (SCAN 3/19/97).

Price selected Wade Binford, formerly group director of x-ray equipment operations at Philips, to take over his previous duties as vice president of marketing. Binford's slot was filled by Jan Smit, an imaging equipment veteran who formerly worked for Dornier Medical Systems and Toshiba America Medical Systems. Smit's family is associated with Philips subsidiary Smit-Roentgen, the German breast biopsy instrument manufacturer.

Philips also merged the operations of its MR, CT, and EasyGuide Neuro image-guided surgical workstation units. Christopher Farr, formerly MR marketing director, was appointed group director of MR/CT. His senior MR product manager, Paula Sanderson, was promoted to product manager of MR/CT.

Another senior MR product manager, Joe Nagle, was promoted to director of new MR/CT markets. Philips' former CT director Marc Lawrence was transferred to the company's global headquarters in Best, the Netherlands.
