Carestream will demonstrate at RSNA 2012 its smaller-format DRX detector as a works in progress. The new cesium iodide detector is designed for dose-sensitive pediatric, orthopedic and general radiology exams.

The Carestream DRX 2530C Detector has a 25 cm x 30 cm format designed to fit into pediatric incubator trays and offer higher detective quantum efficiency, which can lead to lower dose requirements than CR cassettes or gadolinium scintillator detectors, the company said. The detector is intended to be used with the Carestream DRX-Revolution or DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kits for neonatal or pediatric patients.

In orthopedic and general radiology imaging, the smaller detector can aid in position for table top exams such as knee or elbow.
