Agfa passed on the opportunity to purchase Direct Radiography Corp. during its acquisition of Sterling Diagnostic Imaging earlier this year (SCAN 6/23/99), but that decision hasn’t prevented the two firms from working together. Agfa has signed an exclusive long-term sales agreement with Newark, DE-based DRC, giving the Ridgefield Park, NJ, vendor the right to sell DirectRay x-ray image capture detectors to clients in the nondestructive testing (NDT) market for inspecting components such as turbine blades and castings. DirectRay detectors have already been used for NDT applications: In October of last year, the detectors were installed in a system used for the inspection of molds for land-based turbine blades, according to DRC.
