Shimadzu Medical Systems reportedlast month that it has received Food and Drug Administration 510(k)marketing clearance for its Magnex 100/HP 1-tesla MR scanner.The system was introduced at the Radiological Society of NorthAmerica meeting in December (SCAN 11/17/93).

Magnex 100/HP features actively shielded gradients and a one-meterbore, which reduces eddy currents and improves image quality,according to the company. The system includes fast spin-echo (RISE),subsecond imaging (SMASH), MTC-MRA and a cardiac imaging package.
