GE Healthcare will debut at RSNA 2014 their SIGNA PET/MR system.
GE Healthcare will showcase at RSNA 2014 the SIGNA PET/MR, which GE calls the world’s first time-of-flight capable, integrated, simultaneous PET/MR system.
The SIGNA PET/MR is powered by simultaneous image acquisition from GE’s latest 3.0 Tesla magnetic resonance (MR) technology, and innovative positron emission tomography (PET) technology and offers clinicians improved scan efficiency that may lead to more effective treatment paths, GE said.
The SIGNA PET/MR features GE’s MR-compatible silicon photomultiplier detector (SiPM) technology, which is categorized by its enhanced sensitivity, GE said. It also features fast coincidence timing resolution, enabling TOF reconstruction, GE said. TOF helps to improve PET image quality with the potential for higher structural detail and signal-to-noise ratio, GE said. The SIGNA PET/MR should be fully upgradable form a Discovery MR750w 3.0T.
The SIGNA PET/MR is 510(k) pending at the FDA.
