Guardian Technologies International of Dulles, VA, has acquired Wise Systems, a U.K.-based developer and provider of RIS/PACS. The $2.5 million cash and stock deal closed July 27. Driving the acquisition was a Web-based image management system developed by Wise. The integrated RIS/PACS provides patient information, image management, Web-based imaging, and information distribution. Guardian's image compression algorithms will complement and enhance the brokerless RIS/PACS.
