QuadraMed and WirelessMD, a subsidiary of M2Verticom, have signed an agreement to integrate WirelessMD’s Medical Data Retrieval System (MDRS) into QuadraMed’s Affinity healthcare information system. The MDRS will provide continuous remote access to real-time clinical data stored on Affinity systems to clinicians using interactive pagers, PDAs, and WAP-enabled cell phones, enabling users to receive relevant information and alerts via wireless technology. QuadraMed plans to market this wireless connectivity to its existing installed base of more than 4000 hospital sites. The firm claims implementation in over half of all U.S. hospitals.

In related news, M2Verticom has joined forces with Fujitsu-ICL Systems to supply wireless hardware and software to select vertical markets, including medical. Fujitsu-ICL will act as M2Verticom’s preferred supplier of hardware for mobile computing, servers, desktops, laptops, and storage, while M2Verticom will provide wireless software applications and connectivity.
