Tablet use among physicians has nearly doubled since 2011, with 62 percent of doctors using them on the job, according to a recent study from healthcare market research firm Manhattan Research.
Half of the tablet-owning doctors have used the device at the point of the care, and the iPad is the dominant platform, the study found.
Overall, physicians’ device and digital media adoption has grown faster than anticipated, according to the study that surveyed 3,015 U.S. doctors across more than 25 specialties.
There are dozens of medical imaging iPad apps, including Mobile MIM, the first diagnostic radiology app approved by the FDA for viewing images and making medical diagnoses based on CT, MRI and nuclear medicine technology.
