Holographic imaging developer Voxel of Laguna Hills, CA, announcedlast month that it has shipped the first beta unit of its Voxcamdevice for creating 3-D holograms from medical imaging data (SCAN9/23/92). The device was shipped to the New Mexico Institute ofNeuroimaging at the New Mexico Regional Federal Medical Centerin Albuquerque. It will be used by clinicians there and at theUniversity of New Mexico School of Medicine, also in Albuquerque.
In other news, Voxel has hired Robert Littlewood as seniorvice president to head the company's sales, marketing, and distributionefforts. Littlewood has served stints with General Electric andhealthcare services firm Caremark, and has run his own healthcareconsulting company. Voxel plans to begin commercial shipmentsof Voxcam in the first quarter of 1997.
