Agfa is experiencing strong demand for its Impax PACS components, the Ridgefield Park, NJ,company reported last week. The company's total PACS sales inits electronic imaging division exceeded $12 million in the firstquarter of 1995, according to Vishal Wanchoo, director of electronicimaging systems.

Much of the division's strong performance came from three contractssigned since Jan. 1 that are worth a total of $8 million. Agfainked a $4 million deal with Beth Israel Hospital in New YorkCity, a $2 million contract with Indiana University in Indianapolisand a multi-year deal with InterMountain Healthcare Group in SaltLake City that is worth over $2 million in its first year.

All of the contracts are for connecting multiple sites, withthe InterMountain deal linking 23 hospitals and 30 imaging centerstogether and centralizing image archiving and reading at key facilities.The contract is valued at more than $25 million over the lifeof the deal.
