East Tennessee's Wellmont Health System has chosen Agfa to deploy an enterprise-wide PACS. The company will install its Agfa IMPAX at each of the four Wellmont hospital radiology departments. The objective is to link digital radiology images with an electronic patient record. The hospital system plans to link the system to inpatient, outpatient, and home care services. To support this expansive network, Wellmont has leveraged several IT technologies, namely a high-speed network for data transmission; a storage area network to store, communicate, and protect data over several different facilities; and an enterprise storage solution that provides the capacity necessary to retain all image content.
