Alara has shipped its 500th peripheral bone densitometer. The economical tabletop system is designed for in-office bone mineral density testing. The company began distributing MetriScan, which uses radiographic absorptiometry to scan a patient's three middle fingers, in 2002. It is available in the U.S. and 21 other countries.
