Guardent, a provider of end-to-end digital security/privacy services, has been recruited by eMed to ensure that the company's products and services comply with the privacy and security standards in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. The move is being portrayed by eMed, which provides image management and Web products and services for radiologists, as a demonstration of its commitment to patient confidentiality and secure transmission of sensitive healthcare information. Once all HIPAA provisions are finalized, Guardent will perform a gap analysis of eMed's product line.
