Fischer Imaging and GE Medical Systems entered into an x-ray supplyrelationship last month. Under the agreement, Fischer will supplyGE with radiography systems, trauma positioning systems and aspecialized tilting C-arm table for interventional procedures.Initial shipments will begin this year.

The agreement with GE will give Fischer access to new internationalmarkets where the company is not represented, according to Fischerchairman and CEO Morgan W. Nields. The agreement will allow Fischerto continue to focus on emerging niche markets, such as digitalmammography.

The deal gives GE the opportunity to expand its x-ray productline, according to the company.

Fischer also signed an OEM agreement with Varian Associatesof Palo Alto to supply x-ray systems to be used in conjunctionwith Varian's Ximatron therapy simulation systems for cancer treatment.The multi-year deal is expected to be worth $34 million and isthe largest Fischer has signed with any customer.

The products include a CT system and a high-frequency generator.The agreement does not include x-ray products Fischer purchasedfrom Varian in April of 1993.
