FTC clears Loral acquisition plan

The Federal Trade Commission has given Lockheed Martin the go-ahead

to buy Loral on the condition that it take measures to limit the

possibility of antitrust conflicts in the defense industry. The

FTC's concerns had delayed the consummation of the merger, which

was announced earlier this year (SCAN 1/17/96).
