The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded a contract to Hologic to provide digital radiography systems and related equipment for VA medical centers and other government healthcare facilities. Included in the award are two of Hologic's digital x-ray systems, Radex and Epex, that use the company's amorphous selenium technology, as well as its proprietary software. The contract is not exclusive but does give the company easier access to a huge market. A number of military orders for its DR systems have been in the works awaiting conclusion of the contract, according to Hologic. n
