Comdisco and SGI are collaborating on managed storage and ASP technologies aimed at improving methods for storing digital images. The two companies have built upon an ASP business model that addresses image storage demands. SGI is providing its scalable server technology, the SGI Origin family server running SGI synchronized data mover software. Comdisco is providing its Enterprise Access Device, which serves as the mechanism for pulling medical records off the PACS for managed storage and retrieval. The product is being tested at the University of Kentucky Hospital.
