Eastman Kodak has begun shipping its DryView 8600 laser imaging system for mammography, as well as its mammography laser imaging film. The unit can be used with digital devices for breast imaging—whether they are DICOM-compliant or not—and was designed particularly for full-field digital systems, according to the firm. DryView 8600 carries an image resolution of 655 dpi, and can handle 8 x 10-inch films. Its Automatic Image Quality Control feature reduces variability. Rochester, NY-based Kodak expects healthcare facilities to use DryView 8600 with digital spot, digital stereotactic, and ultrasound imaging, as well as digital mammography devices when they appear on the market.
