Film digitizer and computed radiography developer Lumisys has introduced iLuminator, a bundled, low-cost miniPACS and computed radiography device. Based on the firm’s ACR-2000 DesktopCR system (SCAN 6/24/98), the unit provides image acquisition, high-resolution gray-scale display, Internet telecommunications, WAN and LAN network capability, and DICOM-based archiving. Sunnyvale, CA-based Lumisys believes the unit will be attractive to private radiology, orthopedic, and surgical practices, remote clinics, ICUs, emergency rooms, and radiation therapy centers. Now available, iLuminator’s list price is approximately $75,000.
