MDS Nordion of Kanata, Ontario, reported last month that it will enlarge its operations in a $12.3 million expansion that will include a 48,000-sq-ft building with space for radiopharmaceutical production, laboratories, packaging, shipping, and warehousing. The company also plans to expand its cobalt-60 production facility by 5000 sq ft. The project will be complete by August 1999, according to the Canadian radiopharmaceutical firm. In addition to cobalt-60, MDS Nordion processes and distributes molybdenum that it receives from Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL).
