Score one for the underdog. Mammography Reporting System of Seattlelast month won a two-year preferred-vendor contract with the Columbia/HCAhospital chain. MRS will supply its patient reporting and trackingsoftware to Columbia/HCA to help the hospital giant meet the requirementsof the Mammography Quality Standards Act of 1992.

MRS has been locked in a battle with the American College ofRadiology over mammography reporting and audit software the associationis marketing. MRS and other independent mammography reportingsoftware developers claim that the ACR's commercial activitiesrepresent a conflict of interest with its role as an accreditingbody for MQSA.
