A developer of minimally invasive cancer therapies, Rita Medical Systems, has signed a copromotion agreement with Aloka, a Japanese maker of diagnostic ultrasound equipment. Under terms of the agreement, each company's U.S. sales force will be trained in the others' products to help identify potential common customers. The two companies will also cooperate on formal physician training programs, cosponsor trade show receptions, and display products and promotional materials at each other's booths at industry shows and conferences. Each company will retain direct control of the sales process for its respective products. Ultrasound is often used to visualize and guide the placement of Rita's radio-frequency ablation devices.
