Independent service organization Serviscope has expanded its reachin the northern Virginia, Washington, DC, and Baltimore areasby acquiring Certified X-ray, a small ISO based in Centerville,VA. Serviscope, of Wallingford, CT, said the acquisition is partof its plan to expand into new regional markets.
Certified X-ray focuses on maintaining GE x-ray equipment andspecializes in x-ray room moves and on-site refurbishing, accordingto Thomas Tierney, Serviscope CFO. The company also has severaltime-and-materials service contracts with luminary hospitals.
Serviscope was attracted to Certified because it offered accessto a market in which Serviscope did not have a presence. The acquisitionwas made using Serviscope stock and the company will bring allCertified employees under its wing, including president ScottStarkey.
Serviscope continues to target new acquisitions as part ofits growth strategy. The company is primarily looking at ISOsin new regional markets and at in-house service departments athospitals, Tierney said. Serviscope unveiled its AssetCare multivendorservice and asset management program in May, and plans to useacquisition to expand the types of equipment it is capable ofservicing under the program (SCAN 6/21/95).
