Siemens Medical Systems of Iselin, NJ, will release an upgrade this month for its MagicView 1000 soft-copy reporting workstations that is designed to further streamline the reporting process for radiologists.
The software release, called VA3, includes a series of features that reduce the time it takes for radiologists to perform common workstation tasks. For example, a default worklist allows radiologists to automatically receive the films they are generally assigned to read.
Display modes can be automatically enabled based on how each radiologist likes to read the images. Users can also program macros to perform a series of functions with a click of one button, said Susan Rossnick, product manager for clinical networking.
Improved prefetching and autorouting capabilities are also included on the software, which will begin shipping on July 1. When an exam initially arrives on the workstation, historical exams are automatically fetched from the central archive to be available to the radiologist.
