Visiplex Instruments has lostits lease, but don't expect the firm to hold a fire sale of compactcameras and picture archiving and communications systems. Instead,the firm is moving into the digs of its neighbor, AFP Imaging.
Visiplex was formed last year when Agfa sold its Orangeburg,NY-based compact camera business to a management-led group (SCAN7/14/93). The firm branched into digital imaging by purchasingthe assets of Florida PACS developer Genesys (SCAN 8/10/94).
Agfa retained ownership of the building where Visiplex waslocated, however. Earlier this year Agfa informed Visiplex itintended to sell the property and wanted the building empty, accordingto Seamus Carroll, vice president of sales and marketing at Visiplex.
AFP Imaging had extra space available in its facility in nearbyElmsford, so the companies signed a long-term lease agreement,Carroll told SCAN. The firms have no connection other than thelandlord-tenant relationship, he added.
"Officially there is no formal relationship between thecompanies," Carroll said. "We will probably do somethings to be efficient and cost-conscious. We will be sharingsome space at the RSNA, for example. Wherever we can help eachother share costs we will do it."
