From dose management systems to wireless DR detectors to high-tech displays, several new and exciting products were on display at the AHRA 2013 exhibit hall. Here’s a small sample.
Canon’s RadPRO D2-50RF Dynamic Digital RF SystemThis portable imaging device includes dose-reduction features and auto-positioning to improve the user workflow. It’s equipped with the Canon CXDI-50RF Dynamic/Static Digital Radiography Detector, which the company says is the first dual-purpose system that performs both digital fluoroscopy and digital radiography.
Sectra DoseTrackThis dose management system offers a web-based solution to track how dosage is delivered to patients. It can monitor how individual technologists are performing against a baseline, and it can also provide alerts when radiation levels exceed established thresholds.
Hitachi’s NoblusThis ultrasound scanner brings the features of Hitachi’s premium systems to a scaled-down, more portable design. An optional cart allows for seated or standing operation and houses the probe connector unit, which supports selected transducers from the HI VISION series.
Philips’s IntelliSpace PACS AnywhereThis image distribution system from Philips offers mobile access to images, from a tablet, a cell phone or other mobile device. The HTML5-based, zero-footprint viewer requires no downloads or installation.
Sony’s LMD-DM30 and LMD-DM50 Radiology DisplaysSony’s new line of radiology displays features Independent Sub-Pixel Drive (ISD) technology, which triples the resolution of medical imaging displays. ISD allows for quality viewing of high-resolution diagnostic studies, including CR and DR images, CT, MR and full-field digital mammography, where detailed viewing of microcalcifications is possible.
Hologic’s Horizon DXAThis platform from Hologic is a soon-to-be commercialized product line of bone densitometers. It features the new Atypical Femur Fracture (AFF) Assessment, a technique used to assess a serious side effect of common osteoporosis treatment. Horizon is the only FDA cleared system that can conduct this type of exam, according to the company.
Konica Minolta’s AeroDRKonica Minolta’s AeroDR, a lightweight, wireless DR flat panel detector, is now available as a 10-inch by 12-inch plate. It features Konica Minolta’s Cesium Iodide scintillator, which offers high detective quantum efficiency for greater dose efficiency, the company said. The small size and efficiency makes the panel detector well-suited for pediatric exams.
Kubtec’s XPERT 40This digital specimen X-ray system from Kubtec is used to image excised breast tissue. The XPERT 40 uses either radiographic film, CR, or the DIGIVIEW line of digital detectors to provide high-resolution, high-contrast images.
Del Medical’s EV800 Elevating, Four-Way Float Top TableDel Medical’s new table allows for a, 800-pound patient load and quiet table operation. Its rounded corners and integral collision sensors ensure patient and operator safety, the company said.
