Acuson of Mountain View, CA, scored two major orders this month for its ultrasound scanners. In one deal, imaging services provider Diagnostic Health Services bought 22 Acuson scanners, including the company's Aspen and 128 XP systems. The companies said the deal was the largest single acquisition of ultrasound equipment in the history of either firm.

In another big scanner purchase, Henry Ford Hospital has acquired nine Sequoia C256 echocardiography scanners. The systems will be installed at the main Henry Ford campus in Detroit, as well as at Henry Ford Health System locations in the Michigan cities of Dearborn, New Center area, Sterling Heights, Taylor, and West Bloomfield, according to company officials.

The Sequoia scanners will be employed as part of Henry Ford's new digital cardiology laboratory, which will link the main hospital with satellite clinics and referring physicians nationwide, according to Acuson.
