Agfa launches Integration Services Portfolio

Agfa announced the launch of its Integration Services Portfolio consisting of: EHR Image Enablement, Enterprise Clinical Dashboard, IMPAX™ MPI (Master Patient Index) and Desktop Integration

HIMSS Dallas, TX, February 14, 2005

Agfa announced the launch of its Integration Services Portfolio consisting of: EHR Image Enablement, Enterprise Clinical Dashboard, IMPAX(TM) MPI (Master Patient Index) and Desktop Integration.

"These four solutions leverage the open architecture of our IMPAX Image and Information Management System and use HL7 and DICOM standards to image-enable the enterprise, unify the presentation of electronic health records, link patient imaging studies across hospital facilities and automate multi-vendor workflow processes," said Adriano Rosa, Marketing Manager, Professional Services, Agfa HealthCare. "The potential results include enhanced physician and patient satisfaction, decreased operations cost, reduced medical errors, accelerated IT ROI and improved quality of patient care."

Agfa's EHR Image Enablement solution focuses on image-enabling non-Agfa EHR solutions to facilitate the viewing of IMPAX imaging studies in combination with relevant patient records. This linkage removes the burden of physicians having to acquire this data from multiple workstations, through multiple log-on procedures and passwords. The result is increased clinical operation efficiency and enhanced productivity.

Agfa's Enterprise Clinical Dashboard unifies the presentation of electronic patient records and images residing on existing, standalone IT systems through a single web interface. This single-search, anywhere/anytime access to relevant patient information helps physicians make more informed and timely patient care decisions. By leveraging existing IT systems, Agfa's Enterprise Clinical Dashboard also extends the life and value of prior healthcare IT investments.

Agfa's IMPAX MPI helps improve patient care by linking and pre-fetching patient imaging studies across multiple hospital facility domains. With IMPAX MPI patient identifiers from multiple sites can be cross-referenced to present a single, unified view of the patient's images resulting in increased medical record integrity and decreased probability of medical errors. IMPAX MPI also optimizes Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) efficiency by seamlessly leveraging current IMPAX workflow.

Agfa's customized Desktop Integration solutions link IMPAX operation with third-party desktop applications such as voice recognition solutions, dictation systems and 3D imaging applications. By automatically exchanging patient ID and demographic information between IMPAX and non-Agfa applications, staff productivity is increased and the potential for human transcription error is reduced. The result is improved quality of care.
