The FDA has granted market clearance to Cedara Software's Web-enabled viewer, part of its Software for the Heart suite (HNN 10/18/00). The application enables clinicians to capture, retrieve, display, measure, and report on images acquired from multiple modalities (such as x-ray, echocardiography, and CT). The viewer supports both static and dynamic (cine) views and has a plug-in architecture, enabling integration of the viewer into other, third-party, products. The Canadian company plans to develop noncardiology applications for the viewer as well.
