Medical equipment distributor U.S. Medical has formed a partnership with Shantou Institute of Ultrasonic Instruments to sell SIUI's ultrasound systems in the U.S. The two companies anticipate the deal will evolve into an exclusive relationship.

"SIUI is the largest ultrasound company in China. Their prices are generally much lower than other systems," said Craig Borman, U.S. Medical's vice president for medical diagnostics.

The China-based company has been selling ultrasound scanners for many years in Asia, Europe, and South America, according to SIUI's marketing director, James Ma, who said FDA clearance for five models has opened up the U.S. market.

"Our products are relatively inexpensive but have high value," Ma said.
