Diasonics has begun shipments of its 2-D array probes followingclearance of the transducers last month by the Food and Drug Administration. The family consists of three probes, in 12-MHz, 7-MHz, and 6-MHzfrequencies, all of which use Diasonics' matched impedance technology, according to Kenneth Marich, director of marketing communicationsfor the Santa Clara, CA, company.
The 12-MHz probe is a flat linear array for small parts applications, the 7-MHz is a flat linear array for vascular applications, andthe 6-MHz is a curved array for neonatal use, Marich said. Allare available for use on Diasonics Gateway scanners. Diasonicsbelieves that 2-D arrays offer improved spatial and contrast resolution.
