Du Pont has agreed to sell its in vitro diagnostics business toDade International of Deerfield, IL. The unit manufactures andsells products for clinical chemistry and immunodiagnostic testingand had 1994 sales of $326 million, according to Du Pont, of Wilmington,DE.
The sale is part of Du Pont's plan to divest its Medical Productsbusinesses in order to pay for the repurchase of stock from Seagram(SCAN 6/7/95). The sale does not involve Du Pont's medical imagingfilm and PACS operations, however. Du Pont expects to announcea buyer for those businesses in the next four to six weeks.
