The Food and Drug Administration issued 510(k) clearance last month to Elscint's Prima 1TG MRI scanner, a 1-tesla magnet that the Israeli vendor introduced at last year's Radiological Society of North America meeting (SCAN 12/4/96). Prima 1TG features a unique twin-gradient architecture, which enables users to select one or both of two slew rates with the same acquisition. The faster slew rate is useful in small-field-of-view applications for fast scanning protocols, like echo-planar imaging, according to the company.
