Both sides agreed to the settlement, and HealthSouth paid Fonar an undisclosed amount.
The patent in question was Fonars Multi-Angle Oblique, patent No. 4,871,966. Company spokesman Daniel Culver said in the past Fonar has reached settlement agreements with Hitachi, Philips, Siemens, Toshiba, Elscint, Shimadzu, and GE over patent infringements. Fonar introduced the worlds first commercial MR whole-body scanner in 1980.
