GE prototype shrinks ultrasound
GE Healthcare this week unveiled a prototype of its pocket-sized ultrasound Vscan. The scanner, which looks more like an iPod than a medical device, may lead ultimately to a sonographic equivalent of a stethoscope, helping physicians quickly diagnose patients. Vscan is one of the latest developments to come from the company’s efforts at miniaturization. Others include a handheld EKG monitor.
