GE Medical Systems expanded its line of CT scanners in mid-December with the purchase of Imatron. Shareholders of the company that pioneered electron-beam tomography approved the deal Dec. 19, netting about five shares of GE common stock for each share of Imatron. GE pledged to continue making significant investments in EBT systems. Manufacturing operations for the EBT C300 scanner will remain in Imatron's South San Francisco office.
